Jennifer Coolidge puts her body on the line for her work.
Coolidge, 61, said an allergic reaction to a spray tan for “The White Lotus” resulted in a visit to the emergency room before she began filming.
The Emmy winner, who plays Tanya McQuoid in the HBO series, told Allure she “didn’t want to look like a big, white marshmallow on the beach in Hawaii,” so decided to get a spray tan — but something wasn’t right.
“I got on the plane and I started to feel really weird,” she told the publication. “By the time I got off the flight, I had to go to the emergency room.”
Coolidge added that her makeup allergy is a recent discovery, admitting she was “never someone who cared very much about ingredients” before she started reacting to them.
“Then, I’d say the last five or six years, I started getting allergic,” she recalled. “My eyes would always be tearing up, but it never occurred to me that it was my makeup.”
The actress said the production team for “The White Lotus” have had to change her makeup routine due to her allergies.
“I think we ended up using regular makeup,” she said. “The minute we stopped filming, I would shower. I have such a quick reaction to stuff.”
Coolidge recently won her first Emmy at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards last Monday, walking away with the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her role in “The White Lotus.”
Last month, Coolidge candidly spoke about her role in “American Pie,” admitting it was fruitful in more ways than one and she received a lot of “sexual action” as a result from the iconic MILF role.
“There were so many benefits to doing that movie,” she told Variety. “I mean, there would be like 200 people that I would never have slept with.”
